New Psychiatrist: offering “Eating Disorder Plan Reviews”

We currently have psychiatrists offering Eating Disorder Treatment and Management Plan Reviews.

We welcome referrals from patients who:

  1. Have anorexia nervosa, or a severe binge eating disorder, bulimia nervosa, or an otherwise specified eating disorder

  2. Have commenced an “eating disorder management plan” with their GP, and through this plan have accessed 20x Medicare rebated clinical psychology sessions

  3. Need a psychiatrist review of their plan in order to access a further 20 psychotherapy sessions

  4. Not require ADHD or autism assessment, or for ongoing treatment (as the treatment for the eating disorder will be provided by your referring GP, clinical psychologist and dietician following the review)

What your GP referral letter should include:

The referral letter should:

  • Be sent to “referrals@evallies.com.au”

  • Attention: “to the psychiatrist”

  • Purpose:for review of eating disorder management plan

  • Your personal demographic details and contact details

  • Presenting symptoms (reason for seeking the review and ongoing treatment)

  • An overview of your past: psychiatric, medical, surgical, substance use, legal, and medication history

  • Please book a “long consultation” with your GP when seeking a referral letter, so that your medical history can be explored in detail, and then described accurately in your referral letter

Dr Robert Gillies is currently unavailable

Dr Robert Gillies is not expected to be able to see new patients until mid-2025. When he is available, he only accepts referrals for people aged 16 to 50 years old at present. Dr. Gillies has a special interest in treating neurodevelopmental and related conditions (for example: autism, ADHD, tic/Tourette's conditions, OCD, binge eating, insomnia, and anxiety conditions). He is not currently accepting new referrals for patients who require treatment for addiction issues, bipolar affective disorder, schizophrenia, anorexia/bulimia nervosa, or major depressive disorder.

Substance use (or prescribed THC) and ADHD assessments:

Substance misuse / alcohol dependence will render an ADHD assessment inaccurate, compromise treatment, and also pose legal barriers to prescribing ADHD treatment in Victoria. Generally speaking, it is recommended that all substance misuse and alcohol misuse be controlled for a period of at least 12 months prior to your ADHD assessment. If substance misuse, prescribed THC, or alcohol misuse is a current issue for you, please seek support from a drug and alcohol service (and please note that Evallies does not currently host any drug/alcohol workers).

The Evallies phone line is closed on Australian/Victorian public holidays, after business hours (listed above), and from December 25th to January 1st inclusive. When contacting the reception desk for any matter, please note that e-mail is not the preferred method for contact as it may not be monitored and emails may not be received. Therefore, please instead communicate clinical information via the phone during business hours or during scheduled medical reviews. If you require non-urgent care outside of trading hours, seek consultation with your GP.
